トスカーナの陸続きリグーリア州のワインをご紹介します。リグーリア州８つのＤＯＣの１つ、リヴィエラ・リーグレ・ディ・ポネンテです。
またちょこっと長ったらしい名前・・。でも意味を考えるとより理解しやすいと思います。
リヴィエラというのは“海岸“という意味。
リーグレはリグーリアの形容詞で“リグーリアの”という意味。
ポネンテは“西側”という意味です。
つまりリヴィエラ・リーグレ・ディ・ポネンテとは、DOC呼称『西リグーリア海岸』ということです。

西があるなら東もある。当然ですが、ポネンテとは逆の東方面“LEVANTEレヴァンテ”もあります。このリグーリアの海岸は州都ジェノヴァを境に西海岸（リヴィエラ・ディ・ポネンテ）、東海岸（リヴィエラ・ディ・レヴァンテ）と分けられています。
西海岸はジェノヴァからフランスの国境手前まで。東はジェノヴァからトスカーナ州手前のラ・スペツィアまでです。

ジェノヴァの西サヴォーナ県、インペリア県の海岸にまたがりＤＯＣ地区リヴィエラ・リーグレ・ディ・ポネンテは広がっています。品種はヴェルメンティーノのほかピガート、赤でロッセーゼ（いずれも９５％以上使用）というものがあります。
以前このＤＯＣではオルメアスコ（オルメアスコ種かドルチェット種主体）というタイプがあったようですが、２００３年に別ＤＯＣとして独立しました。

アルコール感も重たくなく冷やしてスッキリと爽快な酸と果実味をスマートに味わえる地元の白です。カルヴィーニは代々続く地元農家でサンレーモの市場で丹念に育て上げたフルーツや野菜、オリーヴを販売。弱冠１９才にして父を亡くし、家族を支えてきたルイージ・カルヴィーニが１９８３年より造り出しているのがこのワインです。
いままでも、そしてこれからもこの土地のワインは彼そして彼の家族によって造られていくことでしょう。
